WHAT are reckoned to be the finest professionally tuned road cars in the UK will be battling against the clock at Oulton Park on Saturday.

The Time Attack series is in its third season but this is its first visit to the Little Budworth track.

Time Attack challenges competitors to drive hard against the clock in order to set the quickest lap time in finely tuned road cars.

Each vehicle uses normal road tyres, giving teams the opportunity to test how today’s most powerful roadgoing cars perform when pushed to the limit under controlled conditions.

Cheshire team RC Developments are 12 points behind the lead position. Driver Jamie Stanley said: “We’re hoping for a turnaround at Oulton Park as we’ve had some bad luck with freak mechanical problems, like a stone going through our radiator at Silverstone.“

“Racing at my home circuit is going to mega as Oulton is a quick track.Š

“All the vehicles are highly tuned so you have to be pin-point accurate to get the best time.Š

“The cars are powerful – the top five or six vehicles in the pro class are quicker than a British Touring Car.”

Tickets for the event cost from £15 for adults, with free entry for children aged 12 and under.Š
