WREXHAM FA Cup hero Steve Watkin has followed former boss Wayne Phillips from Caernarfon Town to Newi Cefn Druids.

Watkin, who hit the first of Wrexham’s two goals before Mickey Thomas’ winner in the sensational 1992 FA Cup shock over League Champions Arsenal, becomes the first major player to leave the Cofis following new boss Steve O'Shaughnessy’s arrival.

The 35-year-old striker hit 99 goals in 342 league games for hometown club Wrexham and Swansea City.

However despite netting a hat-trick on his home debut for the Canaries and bagging 12 goals in 18 starts last season, he enjoyed mixed success at The Oval.
