WREXHAM were given a much-needed cash boost last night as they unveiled Ewloe-based commercial finance company Leasedirect as their new kit sponsors ahead of their friendly game against Manchester City.
As part of a fascinating deal to encourage Denis Smith's side to play attacking football, the Dragons will have a £500 bounty up for grabs every time they score three goals in a match next season.
Leasedirect, which has a workforce of 80 at its St David's Park offices and hopes to increase that by 50% within two years, has agreed a one-year deal with the League Two club, with an option for a further 12 months.
The company stepped in to back Wrexham at short notice, after a previously-arranged sponsor-ship deal fell through last week, but managing director Paul Buchanan said he was delighted to be involved with the club.
"We had previously expressed an interest in helping Wrexham and when the opportunity arose to be their main sponsor we jumped at the chance," he said.
"As a business it helps in promoting our name to a wider audience, but in truth just to be involved in the resurgence of the club is enough for us.
"I look forward to a great season with Wrexham and wish the new owners of the club the very best success."
If Wrexham score three goals in any first team match this season, the players will earn an extra
£500 in sponsorship from Leasedirect and the company's managing director, Matthew Plumridge said: "We will work very hard to become the best sponsor the club has ever had.
"Weare already working on many initiatives with the club to ensure that we maximise the benefit of our partner-ship."
Wrexham were also given plenty to celebrate on the pitch last night as they held Manchester City to a 3-3 draw at the Racecourse.
And what's more Basque striker Juan Ugarte was in the stands.
