CHILDREN at William Stockton Primary School have been the first to try out canoeing and kayaking at the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port.

Year 6 pupils enjoyed the new outdoor adventure activities run by Let’s Go Outdoor Learning & Adventure, which is working in partnership with National Waterways to provide water-based sessions for youngsters.

Staff, pupils and parents were joined by town mayor Tony Sherlock and Let’s Go Outdoor Learning & Adventure managing director John Driver for a celebration assembly and the presentation of Level 1 Paddlepower certificates.

Mr Driver said: “This is an exciting first step for these young people taking part and look forward to seeing them progress further, developing their own skills and confidence.”
