YOUNGSTERS from two Ellesmere Port schools were among more than 15,500 from across the region who were treated to a musical spectacular as the Young Voices annual concert tour continued in Manchester.

With almost 350 schools taking part, including The Acorns primary and nursery and Rossmore primary, the giant MEN arena was rocking with concert classics over the two shows.

The children joined stars such as Lee Ryan on stage to perform a varied repertoire, including a High School Musical medley, Slade’s festive classic Merry Xmas Everybody, Queen’s hit Somebody to Love and crowd-pleasing hymn Love Shone Down.

Other star attractions at the concerts included classical singers Alexander Grove and Louise Sjostedt, UK champion beatboxer Beardyman and internationally-renowned conductor David Lawrence. Ben Lewis, marketing director at Young Voices, said: “More and more big name acts join the Young Voices tour each year but it is always the children that steal the show.

“Our aim is to introduce children to music and provide an experience that will see them develop their musical skills in the future. We really believe this year’s shows will have inspired many of the youngsters to do just that.”

Celebrating its 11th year, Young Voices was set up so schools have the opportunity to add a new dimension to music lessons.
