SIXTH-FORM students at Castell Alun High School have been raiding the dressing-up box to support their school.

Dozens of pupils gave a great start to last Wednesday's school day with the annual fancy dress walk.

Hundreds of their fellow pupils gathered on the school field to watch the sixth-formers parade in a variety of outfits.

The event is just one in a week-long series of fundraising activities which also sees Years 6, 7 and 8 complete a 10-lap run of the athletics track and Years 10 and 11 take part in other sponsored sporting events.

Head of sixth form Horace Roberts said: 'All students have gone to a lot of trouble in making or hiring costumes to be involved in the event.

'They have excelled themselves in their creativity this year and we hope to raise a lot of money.'

The money is spent by the school council, which represents pupils of all ages.

In the past this has gone on a sound system for the sixth form, picnic-style seating, drinks machines and subsidising trips and productions.
