COUNCIL planners are thanking people for getting involved in the preparation of the Central Ellesmere Port Area Action Plan.

The document maps out future redevelopment and regeneration of the central part of the town.

An initial draft report was prepared by the council to set out the key issues and options for dealing with these.

To gauge public reaction exhibitions were held at Ellesmere Port market, the library, Trinity Methodist Church and Mecca Bingo.

And more than 120 people who live, work or shop in the area went along to find out more information and speak to council planners.

A questionnaire was sent to everyone who live in the area and 70 responses came back.

Planners say they were impressed with the good ideas put forward.

A focus group was also organised to give residents the chance to discuss issues in more detail and to provide the council with a better understanding of people’s views.

Twelve residents attended to discuss topics such as how to improve the image of Ellesmere Port and whether to encourage the use of the town centre in the evening.
