THE new licensee of the Lion and Railway has reversed the trend of Northwich pub closures.

While the Greenbank Hotel, Bee Hive and Ring O’Bell have closed recently, the Lion and Railway has reopened under Chris Bowyer.

“I aim to provide something for everyone here,” he said.

The Station Road pub closed in June because of an unpaid electricity bill and after complaints from neighbours about noise.

Chris, 41, has relaunched the pub, with an emphasis on pub sports. He has already staged two pool tournaments and hopes darts and dominoes to resume. A pub football team would go down well, too, he says.
