ROBERT Tinston has been re-appointment as a non-executive director to NHS Western Cheshire.

Originally appointed in 2006, he has been welcomed back after his secondment as interim chair of the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic and District Hospital NHS Trust in Shropshire.

Professor Tinston, who lives in Utkinton, has extensive senior experience in managing health services. He was an NHS manager for 30 years including two spells as Chief Executive of major teaching hospitals in Leeds and Liverpool.

Before he retired in 2002, he had been Regional Director of the NHS in the North West and a member of the NHS Executive Board. He has also had visiting academic interests as a Fellow to the Oliver Tambo Programme in South Africa and as a Professor at Manchester University.

In recent years, Robert has undertaken many assignments in health services including governance reviews and international work sponsored by the World Bank. He was made a CBE for services to the NHS in 2001. He has also been appointed Vice Chairman of the Primary Care Trust.
