PERHAPS not surprisingly given Nev Powell’s summer shake-up at Bangor City, Farrar Road was a busy place on transfer deadline day on Tuesday.
After including reinforcements from former club Connah’s Quay Nomads among his close-season signings, Powell this week bolstered his defence by taking 19-year-old starlet Martin Johnston on loan from Tranmere Rovers until January.
Johnston will be a big boost to Powell when Bangor travel to third-placed Welshpool Town tomorrow, as central defender Lee Webber picked up a foot injury in the first half of last week’s 2-1 defeat to The New Saints.
And full-back Martin Beattie will be unavailable for three games with a suspension after his late sending-off.
Meanwhile, Tommy Mutton left Farrar Road for Newtown citing a change in work commitments, while Kyle Jacobs and Gareth Parry have gone to Porthmadog.
As expected, league leaders Llanelli completed the signing of 27-year-old former Welsh international Matthew Jones, who had been on trial at his hometown club.
