TWO Ellesmere Port pubs have slashed their prices to help customers affected by the credit crunch.

The Wheatsheaf in Overpool and The Thomas Telford in the town centre have reduced the cost of five drinks, which include beer, cider and wine.

The two Wetherspoon premises are also offering five different meals for £2.99 at anytime.

The price reductions, which started on Monday, will run indefinitely.

The Wheatsheaf manager Ian Mervyn said: “People enjoy going to the pub, however, I appreciate that the economic downturn means that they now have to be more careful with their money.

“I believe that my new food and drink prices will allow people to enjoy a visit to the pub without it costing them too much.

“Unlike most sales that start in January, the pub’s offers will not be ending within days, but will run indefinitely.”

He added: “I’m offering leading brands of drinks at excellent prices and the choice means that there is something on offer to suit most tastes.

“I believe that the five meals offer outstanding quality and value too. As always, staff at the pub will serve customers responsibly.”
