POLICE are warning residents not to fall victim to rogue traders this summer.

Workmen in Moulton and Davenham have been calling at homes offering to clean drives or carry out minor building work.

In some cases, the price quoted increased dramatically on completion.

One householder was told it would cost £25 to have her driveway cleaned. When the job was finished, she was charged £450.

PCSO Tom McDermott of the Davenham and Moulton Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Please be on your guard when people call at your home offering to do work. If you need work doing contact a reputable builder and get written quotes.

“If you feel pressurised by a cold caller, ask them to leave and call police or Trading Standards.”

Contact Trading Standards on 0845 404 0506 or Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000.
