A MAN was arrested after police raided a suspected cannabis farm at a property in Whitby.

Officers from Ellesmere Port Neighbourhood Policing Unit executed a warrant at an address on Appledale Drive on Sunday, November 11.

Once inside they discovered 20 cannabis plants. A large amount of cash was also seized.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of the cultivation and possession of controlled drugs, as well as money laundering.

He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Sergeant Shaun Pyke, of Ellesmere Port Neighbourhood Policing Unit (NPU), said: “This warrant is part of ongoing efforts by Ellesmere Port NPU to tackle the issue of drug-related crime in the local community. We will not tolerate any sort of behaviour that has a negative effect on the lives of others.

“Information from members of the public is vital in the fight against drug-related crime. We would urge anyone with any information in relation to drug use and supply in the town to get in touch.”
