DETECTIVES are hunting a thug who left a 43-year-old man with a suspected fractured eye socket after attacking him in a pub car park.

The “completely unprovoked and extremely vicious attack” happened at 5.45pm on Saturday outside the White Lion on Delamere Street, Winsford. The victim was taken to Leighton Hospital with “significant and extensive” injuries, and was not released until Monday morning.

Police spokeswoman Shelly Williams said the victim, who lives in Winsford was outside the pub with friends when he was set upon.

She said: “The offender approached him and punched him in the face, causing him to fall to the floor. He then kicked him in the face twice and ran off in the direction of Delamere Street.”

The attacker, a white male with “a tanned complexion”, is of medium build and height with short, dark hair. He is thought to be aged 30-35, possibly with a Birmingham accent.
