A 43-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with producing cannabis after more than 300 plants were seized from a house in Winsford.

Chinese national Guang Gang Lin was arrested and charged on December 22. A warrant to search the house at Vicarage Grove was issued after suspicious neighbours contacted the police.

A total of 358 plants were seized and are now being tested, a police spokesman said.

Lin, who also gave the name Huen Gun Lin, appeared at Vale Royal Magistrates Court on December 23 and was remanded in custody.

He did not enter a plea and will appear in court again later this month.

Sgt Ian Wood, of Winsford Community Action Team, said residents who suspect neighbours, or anyone, of growing cannabis should contact police.

“This will not be an isolated case,” he said. “If anyone is suspicious they should ring us and we will make the follow up enquiries.”
