NORTH Wales Police is urging the public to ensure they lock their doors and close their windows as the evenings get darker and winter approaches.
Det Sgt Eleri Deverell from the Volume Crime Team said: "Recently we've seen a rise in the number of burglaries in the Wrexham area, where properties have been left insecure overnight after the occupiers have either gone out or gone to bed.
"We ask people to be vigilant and look out for anyone acting suspiciously around their local areas, in particular those where the elderly are living, such as sheltered accommodation."
She added: "North Wales Police are determined to catch those responsible, but we are reliant on public support and urge anyone with information to come forward."
Anyone with information relating to the burglaries being committed is asked to contact North Wales Police on 0845 607 1001 (Welsh line), 0845 607 1002 (English line) or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
