POLICE are becoming increasingly concerned for a man who went missing on the morning of his sister’s wedding.

John Michael Thomas Burke, 38, from Ellesmere Port, was last seen at 9.30am on Saturday, August 7.

John was at a family member’s house getting ready for his sister’s wedding with the other male members of the wedding party, with his suit hanging up.

He said he was popping out to a local shop – but never returned.

His disappearance was only reported to police the next day.

The wedding went ahead and it is thought the newlyweds are now on their honeymoon.

Cheshire police spokeswoman Jacqui Hanson said: “It is believed that John is on foot and does not have access to a car. He has family around the Ellesmere Port area.

“John is described as a white male, aged 38, around 5ft 4in tall and of stocky build.

“He has short dark hair, which is receding at the forehead. It is believed John is wearing a blue Adidas jacket with grey sleeves, blue coloured jeans and white trainers.

“It is completely out of character for John to go missing, particularly on the morning of his sister’s wedding, and as such John’s family are deeply concerned and urging him to make contact either with a family member or with the police to provide reassurance that he is safe and well.”

As the Pioneer went to press John had not been located and police have asked the communities of Ellesmere Port and the wider Cheshire area whether they have seen John since he left the family home on Saturday morning at about 9.30am.
