POLICE investigating the murder of two men whose bodies were found in a flat above a Shawbury fish bar are close to naming one of the victims.

Detective Chief Inspector John Collier said one of the victims was likely to be named later today or tomorrow morning following formal identification by a relative living in England. Most of the victim’s close family are in India.

He and another man, who is also still to be formally identified, were found in the flat where they lived, shortly before 10am last Friday. Post mortem examinations revealed they died from head injuries.

Arrangements are being made for a relative of the second man to fly from India to confirm his identification over the next few days.

Meanwhile, the police investigation team have been granted a 36-hour extension to continue interviewing a man arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of murder.

The extension was granted by Telford magistrates last night. The man remains in custody.

More than 100 police officers and specialist support staff continue to work on the case.
