POLICE in Ellesmere Port are appealing for help from the public to trace an elderly man reported missing from his home in Ellesmere Port on Monday evening.

James Stanton, 71, was reported missing from his home on Capenhurst Lane, Whitby, by concerned family..

James suffers from Alzheimer's and dementia.

These health problems, coupled with his age, mean he is regarded as vulnerable.

He is described as about 5ft 8in tall, of medium build and with short grey hair.

He was last seen dressed in dark jogging bottoms, navy canvas shoes, a green zipped hooded top and a blue jacket. He often wears a blue cap.

James was been reported missing in similar circumstances in February, but later turned up at a train station in Liverpool.

It is believed that James is travelling on foot or by public transport.

Extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace James and anyone who knows of his whereabouts, or has seen anyone matching his description since last night, should contact Cheshire Constabulary on 0845 458 0000 quoting incident 987 15/08/11.
