YOUNGSTERS in Cefn Mawr now have a safe place to play following extensive refurbishment of the Dolydd Road play area.
The refurbishment was made possible with grant aid from WREN, who distribute Landfill Communities Fund cash on behalf of landfill operator Waste Recycling Group Ltd, funding from Cefn Mawr Community Council and Wrexham Council.
More than £32,000 was spent on the refurbishment and the facilities now include a climbing ramp, scramble net and fireman’s pole, a spring rider, a standing rotator, a set of flat seat swings and a set of cradle swings.
Meleri Jones, project manager for WREN, said: “It has been a pleasure to work with the community and help fund this much-needed facility for the younger residents of Cefn Mawr.
“We hope the new equipment will be well used. We would urge other community groups to contact us to see what funding we have available.”
Cllr Warren Coleman added: “The former area had little play value for youngsters and I am very pleased they now have a place to play that is safe and modern.
“This is an excellent example of how partnership working within our communities is bringing benefits to improve facilities.”
