WITTON Albion players have kick-started a campaign to encourage more people into learning.
Striker Rob Thornley, midfield players Steve Brodie, Dave MacPherson and Rob Lloyd, defender Cavell Coo and coach Nigel Deeley, are the stars of a new advertisement being used to promote The Zone learning centre in Northwich.
Vale Royal Borough Council’s learning team hopes the advert will help encourage residents who want to update their skills but don’t know where to start.
Mark Peers, winger for Witton Albion, said: “It’s important to have a good education as I won’t always be playing football and will need something to fall back on.
I am studying Sports Therapy part-time at college and want to go into that when I’ve finished playing football. Updating skills and qualifications is very important, I encourage people to go to the council’s learning centres and find out about available courses.”
The advert will be broadcast in local pubs during Witton Albion’s matches. It will also run on the council’s community learning website, the club’s website and on YouTube.
