A CANCER survivor from Warrington is just one of nine people nationwide to be honoured with a dedicated bench.
Grandmother Doreen Blanchard, 60, was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago but after a mastectomy to her left side, she is currently clear.
In a twist to the usual park plaques the engraving on Doreen's bench, in Woolston Park, reads: "Doreen Blanchard loved sitting here and still does thanks to research into cancer."
The bench was donated by Cancer Research UK.
Doreen said: "I feel very lucky and strongly encourage all women over 50 to attend their-screening appointments."
