RESIDENTS from Chirk took part in the First on Scene certificated first aid course.

The course was arranged by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service in partnership with the British Red Cross, with the course costs paid by the Police and Community Trust (PACT).

John Roberts from British Red Cross, who is also a local first aid responder, ran the course and passed on life-saving training to 12 people.

Andy Scarratt, watch manager, Chirk fire station, said: “To improve the chances of survival of those injured or falling ill, it is vital as many people as possible know the basic procedures of first aid.”

Mechanic Meurig Davies from Terry’s Autorepairs, added: “I wanted to make sure I was prepared should anything happen at work or to my family at home.”
