A PENSIONER who runs a club for elderly people in Ellesmere Port has thanked the Pioneer for helping him attract new members.

James Porter organises afternoon entertainment every Thursday from 2-5pm at the Royal British Legion in Stanney Lane and says more people are now aware of the club following our story in January.

He set it up to help get elderly people out of the house, whether it be to dance to a band or just simply socialise with each other.

Mr Porter said: “The story has made a big impression and there are now a lot more people who know where we are and what we do.

“It’s a good afternoon out and gives people who may usually be sat at home something to do and enjoy. Anyone who is interested should come down and see us.”

The club is having an Easter bonnet parade and a raffle at 3pm on Thursday, March 20.
