PETROL was poured on the front door of a house and then ignited by arsonists.

It is believed they might have burnt themselves during the attack in Radway Green, Great Sutton.

A spokeswoman for Cheshire police, who attended with town firefighters at 2.56am on Saturday, October 18, said: “The front door was set on fire but burnt itself out.

“Fire investigation officers confirmed petrol had been poured over the door.

“It is thought the offenders might have burnt themselves when it was lit.

“No-one in the house was hurt.”

Detective Constable Stephen Owens, of Ellesmere Port & Neston CID, urged witnesses to call him on 01244 613131 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
