A PETITION to block plans for up to 2,000 homes in Little Sutton is gaining support.
Ledsham & Manor Action Group’s (L&MAG) combined door-to-door petition and e-petition has now exceeded 2,000 signatures.
Redrow is preparing an application to build the homes on farmland south of Ledsham Road, Little Sutton.
This petition will be delivered to Cheshire West and Chester Council after it closes at the end of April, to coincide with the planning application being submitted.
Graham Phipp, from the Action Group, said: “L&MAG will respond with an objection covering all material considerations, detailing all of the site specific environmental impact issues that will be created by any development.
“Land quality and traffic implications are major amongst these.
“Development would clearly be in violation of Government planning guidelines, not sustainable, and not necessary in the current economic climate, as sufficient brownfield alternatives exist to meet the local housing need.
“Within the framework of the Localism Act, the strength of the local community view as evidenced by the petition size, should give weight to this objection.”
Members from the group recently aired their views on Radio Merseyside when the Roger Phillips show came to Great Sutton.
