A TEENAGER from Northwich has been sent down for the first time after burgling a community centre and breaching his ASBO.

The 17-year-old yob, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was jailed for four months at Vale Royal Youth Court on Wednesday, October 15.

The court heard the defendant, who narrowly escaped a custodial sentence in January for offences of affray and carrying a bladed weapon, stole £67.50 of food from Weaverham Community Centre, Russett Road club on May 13.

Insp Pete Minghella, head of Northwich Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: “We are pleased with the result. This individual has caused problems not only in his own community but also further afield.

“He has not heeded the warnings despite various interventions, and if it takes a custodial sentence to drive the message home then so be it.”
