SIR, Some of your readers may have seen an article in the national press recently that stated Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has the second highest rate of hospital car parking charges in the country for patients and visitors.

The report inaccurately indicated that we charge £4 per hour, which is most certainly not the case. We actually charge £2 per visit for patients and visitors which, converted to an hourly rate, equates to 40p per hour, based on the five-hour maximum parking time.

In addition, I would also like to highlight that of the 928 spaces provided for patients and visitors at Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge hospitals, 372 are free to park in.
