THE Parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea has a host of events lined up to celebrate its centenary year.

Founded in 1909, the parish was originally based at an old tin church in Enfield Road, Ellesmere Port, before the present building was built in 1931.

The actual date of its centenary was March 21, but the parish has several events planned throughout the remainder of the year culminating with a celebratory dinner dance at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall.

Next month sees the most important events, which the church is keen to share with old and new parishioners.

On Saturday, June 20, an event to reunite ex-pupils of Our Lady’s School has been organised in the Parish Centre, taking place between 12.30pm-6pm.

The following Monday sees the start of a themed week of masses, culminating with a Friday mass celebrated by Bishop Brian Noble.

After each of the evening masses, refreshments will be available in the Parish Centre along with the opportunity to view the photographic display of the old church and some of the early parishioners.
