THE parents of a 14-year-old tearaway fear they could be evicted from their home if he does not curb his behaviour.

The boy’s mother and father, who live in Northwich, told Vale Royal Youth Court they did not know what to do with the troublesome teenager.

“We support him in every way we can, but unless he’s strapped to our side all day there’s not much we can do,” said the father.

“We’re pretty much at our wits’ end. As parents it’s our responsibility but there’s not much more we can do.”

The boy is no longer in mainstream education after being kicked out of his previous school. He cannot be named for legal reasons.

On Wednesday he admitted a charge of criminal damage relating to an incident on Tuesday, March 4 when, together with two “so-called friends”, he kicked down a wall outside a Weaver Vale Housing Trust home.

After continually smirking during prosecutor Carolyn Viviani’s summary, the teen told magistrates it “wouldn’t bother” him if someone did the same to his property.

Derek MacDonald, defending, said the youth gets dropped off at the special school he attends and walks out after registration “to go off gallivanting and getting up to no good”.

“His parents have continually read the Riot Act,” he said. “He seems to have difficulty in accepting authority.”

His dad said the Trust had done all it could to help, but he fears where his son’s behaviour will lead.

He told magistrates: “We are Weaver Vale tenants and because of what he gets up to we could be at risk.”

WEAVER Vale Housing Trust’s housing manager Jackie Hodgson told the Chronicle: “We are aware of the problems our tenant is experiencing in relation to his son’s behaviour.

“As a Weaver Vale Housing Trust tenant he understands that under the terms of his tenancy agreement he is responsible for ensuring the good behaviour of members of his household.

“We are working with this tenant and our community safety partners to try and change his son’s behaviour. There is a range of tools and interventions available to tackle anti-social behaviour and eviction would only be used as a last resort.

“I can confirm that at the present time the Trust is not considering any legal action against this tenant, which would put his home at risk.”
