TENNIS lessons for over-50s will come to Ellesmere Port this summer – and a free taster session next month will aim to entice beginners.

Cheshire West and Chester Council, in partnership with Ellesmere Port City Tennis Club and Age UK, will be enticing beginners and improving tennis players to the courts at West Cheshire College with a series of coaching sessions and open days.

The activity starts on Saturday, May 7, when there is a free session from 1.30-2.30pm.

Rackets and balls will be provided free of charge and the event is open for adults of all ages and abilities.

Participants will get an opportunity to learn about the coaching sessions that will continue through the summer.

Starting on Tuesday, May 10, a session targeted at over-55s, organised and facilitated by Age UK, will take place from 1.30-2.30pm. Everyone aged 18 and over will be able to access a Back 2 Tennis session from 1.30-2.30pm starting on Saturday, May 14. Sessions then continue on a weekly basis on the same day and time.

The coaching sessions will run in courses of five weeks and there are two start dates, in May and late June. There will be a charge of £10, payable in advance for each course.

To book, call Sports Development on 01606 288556 or complete the form on the Back 2 Tennis website.
