CHESHIRE’S biggest sporting event in terms of spectator attendance roars back to Oulton Park on May Bank Holiday weekend.
The hugely popular British Superbike Championship (BSB) arrives back at the Little Budworth circuit for the second round of the series which this year promises to be as fiercely competitive as ever.
And the Crescent Suzuki team are hoping their new signing, former MotoGP ace Sylvain Guintoli, will take them to a double Oulton Park race victory.
Guintoli joins BSB after making the switch from the MotoGP paddock over the winter months after impressing team owner Paul Denning, who manages the Suzuki MotoGP squad. The Frenchman is now determined to show he can adapt to the new challenge.
Guintoli, known affectionately by his fellow racers as the ‘Crazy Frog’, said: “I have known Paul (Denning) for a few years now and I have been living in the UK for about five years.
“I have been following BSB so I know about the championship and have watched the races on TV and I think it is very strong.
“I did a few laps of Oulton Park and I have to say the layout of the circuit is fantastic, it really is beautiful.
“I went there over the winter as I wanted to get a feel for the circuit and the lines, it really is a good track. It is not as open as what I am used to in MotoGP, but I can't wait to go there to race. I think this track is one I am really looking forward to.”
