A KNITTING group in Great Sutton welcomed the Olympic Torch to its last session before the summer break.

Members of Knit & Natter, based at Whitby Methodist Church on Hope Farm Road, Great Sutton, embraced the spirit of London 2012 when they were visited by Ellesmere Port torch-bearer Caitlin Kennedy.

They paid for the privilege of having their photograph taken holding the Torch and the money raised will be put toward the postage of items abroad.

Knit & Natter members meets on Tuesdays from 1.30-3pm during school term times to chat, have refreshments and knit and crochet items for charities in the UK and abroad. Non-knitters are welcome

All meetings end with a short devotional time when prayers are said for people in need.

The group says donations of wool and any contributions towards postage are always welcome.

Meetings will restart on September 11.
