DOZENS of police officers formed a guard of honour at the funeral of a respected colleague.
The Cheshire Constabulary officers, including chief constable Peter Fahy, paid their final respects to PC Alan Roberts at St Paul’s Church, Hooton on Friday.
The service was followed by committal at Blacon and a reception at the Burmah Castrol Club in Whitby.
PC Roberts, of Ellesmere Port, died just days short of his retirement from the force. He collapsed at the wheel of his car in Overpool Road earlier this month.
Originally from Wrexham, the 52-year-old grandfather was involved in public order training, teaching colleagues how to protect themselves against attack.
