MECCA Bingo in Ellesmere Port is joining forces with its 101 fellow UK clubs on Friday to stage its biggest ever single day of fundraising.

It has pledged to raise a minimum of £250,000 for national children’s mobility charity Whizz-Kidz in 2008 through its clubs and on-line bingo business. So far more than £80,000 has been raised nationally.

Each club will be playing Shea’s Spaceship, a touching DVD produced by Whizz-Kidz featuring a real-life story of Shea, whose world was changed for the good by specialist mobility equipment.

There will also be fundraising events in clubs through the day.

Zoe Evans, general manager of Mecca Ellesmere Port, said: “Our customers and staff have already responded magnificently to the challenge of raising money for this fantastic children’s charity and we are all committed to smashing our target by the end of the year.”
