THE Mid Cheshire homes of four female pensioners have been targeted by a criminal gang posing as police officers.

Two houses in Cuddington were hit on Tuesday last week, along with addresses in Alvanley and Kingsley.

The thieves stole £20 from one of the properties. Now police are warning residents to be on their guard. All the victims were in their 70s or 80s.

The offenders struck at:

Glebe Road, Cuddington, at 9.25pm – victim 80 years.

Ash Road, Cuddington, at 9.40pm – victim 87 years.

Chapel Lane, Kingsley, at about 10pm – victim 89.

Towers Lane, Alvanley, at 10.30pm – victim 76.

A Cheshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: “Fortunately none of the victims were injured, although they were left shaken as a result of their ordeal.”

Det Con Pete Cole, who is leading the investigation, said: “It is vital residents who are visited at their homes by anyone claiming to be a police officer, whether in uniform or plain clothes, ask for official identification in the form of a warrant card.

“Never allow anyone into your home if you have any concern for their identity.”

Two men and a woman from Wrexham have been remanded in custody charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to rob.

They are: Jerry Patrick Berry, 23, of Homestead Lane; Elisha Jones, 23, of Hywelfa and Leon Lavell, 19, of Fordowen.

They are due to appear at Chester Magistrates Court tomorrow (Thursday).

A 15-year-old boy, also from Wrexham, was due in court yesterday afternoon on the same charges.
