A NORTHWICH man critically hurt outside a town bar is making a good recovery in hospital, say police.

Frank Pemberton, 55, of London Road, was allegedly assaulted with a spade at the back of Madisons in the early hours of April 25.

He suffered serious head injuries and was transferred from Leighton Hospital to a specialist unit in North Staffordshire. But he is now back at Leighton and on the mend.

A Cheshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: “He’s now conscious and his condition continues to improve.”

Mark Igoe, 33, of Milton Grove, Warrington, was due at Chester Crown Court yesterday charged with two counts of wounding.
