NORTHWICH cadets are top in the country for academic achievement – for the third year running!

The Foster Trophy is presented to the cadet with the highest marks throughout their technical training and the Currall Trophy is presented to the person who achieved the second highest marks.

In total, 146 cadets won these awards out of 60,000 other cadets from the UK.

For a squadron to win both trophies in the same year is rare, but Northwich has broken this trend by winning both awards for the last three years.

Cadet Sergeant Jimmy Pickup was presented with the Foster Trophy and Cdt Sgt James Moores received the Currall Trophy.

Air Commodore Ian Stewart, the highest ranking officer in the Air Cadet organisation, visited Northwich to present them with their trophies.

He said: “I was delighted to award these two prestigious trophies to cadets from this impressive squadron.

“It is heart-warming to see such a vibrant and successful squadron within the Air Training Corps.

“The cadets are a credit to the corps and reflect the hard work put in by the dedicated volunteers of 146 (Northwich) Squadron.”
