THE search is on for selfless individuals who contribute to the lives of children.

Last year saw Mike Burton, from Ellesmere Panthers and Cheshire Jets, awarded the first Enid Hester Award.

Now Ellesmere Port and Neston Association of Voluntary and Community Organisations (EPNAVCO) is looking for nominations for this year’s award.

The honour was founded in honour of Enid Hester, who made a significant contribution to the lives of children and young people in Ellesmere Port.

It celebrates Enid’s contribution by thanking others who continue her legacy in Ellesmere Port.

Nominees for the award should be contributing to activities, programmes, charities or clubs which supports children or young people. The nominated person may volunteer at an organisation, charity or group but what they do must be on a voluntary basis and secondly must support children or young people.

Elaine Dunn, chief officer of EPNAVCO, said: “Enid Hester was a very special lady who dedicated her time and effort to provide activities for young people in this area.

“The award is a positive way of continuing her legacy and ensuring that we foster her model of engaging with children and young people and touching their lives in a positive way.”

The trophy will be awarded to the successful volunteer at the Big Lunch – Making a Difference celebration on Sunday, June 5, in Whitby Park.
