INTERIM parking arrangements will be in place for visitors to Wins- ford Sports Complex from January, when work is due to start on the new £10.8m Lifestyle Centre.

The state-of-the-art leisure, recreation and entertainment centre is to be built on the complex’s car park.

Developer Morgan Ashurst will start work in the first week of 2008. It is expected to take more than 70 weeks to complete.

Parking spaces for existing blue badge holders will be retained in the current spot at the side of the sports complex.

However, once work starts there will be no other on-site parking and wheel-clamping will be in operation.

Cllr John Grimshaw, lead councillor for recreation, said: “This development will cause some disruption, but I would ask everyone to bear with us. The end result will be an outstanding facility that will attract many new clubs and individuals looking to Winsford for exciting entertainment and leisure activities.”
