BOWLS: Nicola Boulton became the first woman to win the Roberts Bakery Handicap Trophy, at Owley Wood.
Last season under her maiden name of Dolby she became the first woman to land any of the Mid Cheshire League cups by winning the Mid Cheshire Merit and then, with Rob Jamieson, the Pogson Pairs.
Now she has a third trophy to keep shiny after polishing off veteran Gerald Merry (Comberbach) 21-14 in Friday’s final.
Boulton, 37, had beaten Phil Cookson (Wharton Cons) by seven shots and her Frodsham Red Lion clubmate Rob Winnington by eight.
Merry had ousted Simon Cookson (Cons) by seven and Richard Binnersley (Castle Pte) by six.
Cheshire’s all-Mid Cheshire team whipped Worcester and Warwickshire 230-176 on the same Owley Wood green on Sunday.
Castle’s Andy Hamman turned in a 21-11 man-of-the-match performance. Full scores are on page 38.
The away team did well enough to give Cheshire a 427-408 victory.
