A LANDLADY says it’s been well worth the wait to run her local pub in Childer Thornton – even if it has been 20 years.

New White Lion tenants Sue and Ken Brown have stepped behind the bar of the Childer Thornton premises having ran several pubs across the country.

The couple have carried out a complete refurbishment of the kitchens and will soon be introducing Sunday lunches as well as curry nights later in the year.

The community pub is host to regular quiz nights and numerous other club and group meetings.

Mrs Brown said: “We’ve run pubs all over the country, the most recent in Neston and Colwyn Bay.

“We’ve lived in Childer Thornton for the last 20 years and we’ve always said we’d like to take the White Lion on.

“I didn’t think it would ever happen but when the tenancy came up we just went for it. It has been well worth the wait.

“We already know most of the people who come in here and they’re all delighted for us. They’ve been brilliant.”
