PASSENGER waiting facilities at Ruabon Railway Station have been given a £70,000 upgrade.

There are new shelters, one on each platform, with seating and internal lighting.

The investment follows the introduction of screens showing real-time train arrival information and additional buses calling at the interchange.

The transport grant funding was given to Wrexham County Borough Council by the National Assembly.

Cllr David A Bithell, lead member for the environment and transport, said he hoped the upgrade would encourage more usage of sustainable transport services.
