CHANGES to bus services in Ellesmere Port have created new routes and timetables – and the return of a Sunday service.

Service 1, which travels from Chester to Liverpool, now operates at up to every 20 minutes from Monday-Saturday, and continues at every 30 minutes on Sundays and bank holidays.

All journeys will be operated by First.

Between Cheshire Oaks and the A5117 the service will now operate through Stanney Woods Avenue.

A new bus, the number 2 from Chester to Liverpool, operates the same route between Chester and Ellesmere Port as the old number 3, which has been withdrawn.

From Chester, it operates past the Countess Hospital, Moston Garage, through Hope Farm and Whitby into Ellesmere Port. It then continues along Sutton Way (for West Cheshire College), Overpool Road, Rossmore Road West, Station Road (for Little Sutton station) and rejoins the A41.

It will operate every 20 minutes, Monday to Saturday daytime.

Half of all journeys will be operated by First. Between Ellesmere Port/Little Sutton and Liverpool, there will be a number 1 or a number 2 bus up to every 10 minutes, of which three in every four will be operated by First.

A new service, the X2 from Chester to Ellesmere Port, is a new faster link between Chester and Ellesmere Port bus stations, via Liverpool Road and the Countess of Chester Hospital, Moston Garage, Strawberry Roundabout and through Whitby. Buses will run at up to every 30 minutes, and half of departures will be operated by First.

Between Chester and Ellesmere Port, the new services mean there will be up to eight buses an hour.
