MARGARET Ollerenshaw has been elected chairwoman of Cheshire Police Authority.
Ellesmere Port councillor Derek Bateman has been named vice-chairman of the committee, which oversees policies for and the work of Cheshire police.
Mrs Ollerenshaw, an authority member for 14 years and a JP, said: “I am looking forward to the challenges that this year will bring and to continue to improve the delivery of policing to the people of Cheshire.”
Cllr Bateman said: “My aim is to continue to work in partnership with local agencies to develop policing, to improve the quality of life of people in Cheshire and to help them to feel safe.”
Following the creation of two new unitary authority councils in Cheshire, Adrian Walmsley and John Ebo from Cheshire West and Chester and Ainsley Arnold and Brian Silvester from Cheshire East joined the authority on April 1.
Mrs Ollerenshaw was previously vice-chairman of the committee.
