RETAIL giant Marks and Spencer is planning to open a second store in Crewe, company bosses have announced.

The new site, at the Grand Junction Retail Park, will mean shoppers who struggle to park in the town will have better access than currently enjoyed.

A spokesman said the new store would be an M&S ‘Simply Food’ outlet, offering high quality fresh fruit and vegetables, sandwiches, snacks and prepared meals, as well as alcohol.

“We are delighted to confirm that we’ve exchanged contracts to open a brand new M&S Simply Food store at the Grand Junction Retail Park.”

But the spokesman allayed fears that the current Marks and Spencer store in Queensway in the town centre would close to make way for the new site.

“The Simply Food store will complement our existing M&S in Crewe, and following a complete refit, we hope to open it under our signature M&S style,” he added.
