WITTON Albion finally put an end to their 11-match losing streak in the UniBond Premier League with a superb victory at promotion-seeking Bradford Park Avenue.
Gary Finley’s men, without a win in the league since September 2, outplayed the hosts at the Horsfall Stadium on Saturday in a game in which the Albion boss unveiled four of his new signings.
And it was two of the new arrivals that made Witton’s trip to West Yorkshire all the more enjoyable as Neil Black, from Colwyn Bay and defender Paul Booth, from Leigh Genesis, by finding the back of the net.
Lee Thompson came closest to opening the scoring on the half-hour mark but the deadlock was broken on 42 minutes when Black raced through unmarked to fire his shot under ex-Witton keeper Jon Worsnop.
Five minutes after the break at Albion supporters were in dreamland as Booth bundled the ball over the line after Mark Smyth’s free kick bounced off the Bradford keeper.
Albion were relatively untroubled for the remainder of the half and took the priceless three points back to Wincham Park.
