ELLESMERE Port and Neston Community Transport Ltd expanded its community car scheme yesterday.

After a recruitment drive and the purchase of an accessible car, the new volunteer drivers held their induction course last week.

The service is available to people in Ellesmere Port and Neston who are without private transport or who are unable to access public transport to make their journey.

Ellesmere Port and Neston Community Transport can help with journeys to appointments at hospital, doctors dentists and also social activities if possible.

Group treasurer Dave O’Brien said: “With our team of volunteer drivers we will try to help with transport.

“There is a charge of 50p per mile, with a minimum charge of £2.50, payable to the driver.”

To use the service, prospective users need to become a member of the group.
