THE new county commissioner for Cheshire is encouraging people in Elles- mere Port to become Scout leaders.

In his role, Graham Phillips will take charge of nearly 11,000 members of the Scout movement in Cheshire.

He has taken up the reins after a ceremony attended by the Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire.

There are currently 800 children on the waiting list to join the Scouting movement in Cheshire – and extra leaders, and other help, will give more children the opportunity to take part.

Graham said: “To deliver fantastic Scouting to young people who want to experience the world’s largest youth movement we need more adult help – this could be as leaders, admin support or specialist trainers.”

Sue Goddard, district commissioner for Ellesmere Port, welcomed Graham and echoed his plea for more leaders in the town.
