A FORMER food outlet on the outskirts of Northwich is being transformed into a huge bargain bookshop.

Bookstore at Oakmere will open at 9am on Saturday August 1 at the old Little Chef restaurant on the A556, on the edge of Delamere Forest.

The venture is the brainchild of businessman David McPhee, whose successful store in Buxton, Derbyshire has enabled him to invest in Mid Cheshire.

“All the books are brand new, and 95% of them will be half-price or less,” said David, who is originally from Chesterfield.

The 3,000sq ft premises will stock more than 20,000 cut-price titles, said David. It will also sell music CDs from £2.99 and “an extensive range” of greeting cards.

Bookstore at Oakmere will be open from 9.30am-5.30pm on Monday-Saturday, and will also open on Sundays.

Until August 16 the store is offering a £2 discount on total purchases of £10 or more with a leaflet available online at www.chestertourist.com/delamere.
